Canucklehead is da man!.....He has done a fantastic job with this interview don't you agree? Regarding how it is all set-up? We approach a unsuspecting UGOI at random then ask them if they would like to be interviewed by "Canuck"? then after $$$$ is brought into the picture and some mild arm twisting the deal is done!

Best of all,Canucklehead works (cheap). We pay him in "Max Korn" brand and delicious....refreshing I think this month he deserves a raise. Hmm, What shall we give him for a Christmas bonus this year.....Anyone?

Can you say product placement kiddies?

It's kinda like two men with a video camera and a bundle of cash approaching an unsuspecting suburbanite mother at a supermarket and offering her a gig... I said too much!

Great Job though. Too bad not many people are responding.

Mad Doc looks like Canuck is stealing your job 01.gif , Does this count as a job?

It could, if you don't count absense of a health plan and retirement benefits.

That's a step up from my CURRENT financial status as an independent musician! 08.gif

But hey, ya gotta keep dreamin'...I only need to sell three more vital organs to raise the money to record my third album...anybody out there need a spleen??? 06.gif

Thanks for the great reviews on this interview, gang. This was actually my favourite part, as well (especially the bit about Charlton Heston's pants...Ray and I were giggling like idiots over that whole adventure!).

But some fabulous surprises are coming in the conclusion, as we pose some more questions to Ray from various MAD colleagues and fans - we threw in some twists that even Ray himself doesn't know about...shhh...don't tell him!

I'm putting the finishing touches on Part 4 as we speak, and you clods should see it here shortly. Stay tuned!

In the meantime...pop open the Moxie orange soda and break out the Corn Nuts...

This is CANUCKLEHEAD'S 1000TH POST!

(And it comes almost a year to the day since I became Trash Heap Moderator...spooky...ooh-whee-oooh...)

Uh oh!

?!?

I'm sure whatever it is, I have a perfectly good explanation/excuse/alibai.

So far, so good Cankucklehead. Nice job. But...four parts? Did I really have that much to say? Damn.
Reminds me of this one time, after meeting the father of this girl I was dating in high school, I asked her what he thought of me. His response was: "Empty cans make the most noise in the wind".

We broke up.

'nuff said.

Relax, Ray, it's all good.

The final chapter (which I'm editing as we speak) features more questions and comments from MAD fans and your various colleagues. And since we talked in April, I've had a few e-mails from a couple of familiar MAD names who were just heartbroken at the thought of missing my interview deadline, and are now delighted that they're going to be a part of this "Almapalooza!"

So stay tuned...it's gonna be a dandy!

And I'm delighted that you've enjoyed the first stretch of this feature, Ray. I was starting to feel bad that we'd delayed it so long - but believe me, yours is a story worth telling! (In its entirety, I might add - I left very, very few "empty cans" behind when I sat down to edit this piece!)

Thanks L&B...and Batman?!?! Batman liked my interview!!?!?

My heavens...the Caped Crusader - I'm deeply touched...please say Hi to Commissioner Gordon for me... 01.gif

Part IV is on the way - and it's got tons of contributions from several of your MAD favourites!

In the meantime, I thought I'd share a couple of photos that Ray was nice enough to send me in the run-up to the interview. These were both taken on the set of Friends, when Ray was invited to see a taping of the show during its final season as a "thank-you" for his work on one of MAD's Friends articles in #435.

The first is a shot of Ray on the toilet in "Monica's" apartment-set, with a copy of the MAD I just mentioned...

And while Ray wasn't able to meet any of the Friends cast on his trip to the set (they were tied up with those snot-nosed little brats from the Children's Wish Foundation), he WAS able to score some quality moments with David Arquette (aka. Mr. Courtney Cox), who apparently had some time to kill in-between cameo appearances in Muppet movies... 01.gif

In all seriousness, Ray says Arquette is "a big MAD fan" and was delighted to meet the man who finally drew him in MAD (even if it was only from the back!).
