Has anyone got this / able to give any feedback on it? I've never been a huge Cracked fan, but these look pretty interesting.

I ordered a set through BarnesAndNoble.Com . Should be here sometime in the coming week. I'll post some thoughts once I have digested these two massive volumes (at over 1000 pages total) .

As usual, I agree with MADdict; this looks like a good way to collect/read Cracked. The overall price is a bit of an off-putter.

A UK cartoonist once chided MAD for satirising something "simply because it exists"; in fact, it was Cracked that did this more than MAD, hitting on lots of movies that fell between the ones that MAD targeted - not that I mind this in itself.

The volumes are somewhat discounted through BarnesAndNoble.Com. Not so much if purchasing through Amazon.Com .

I hope you do give the books a chance. Sorry about the price, but at least it's in two volumes so that you can buy them one at a time. The cover price for each book is only $5 higher than De Bartolo's "Good Days and Mad", and $5 LESS than Reidelbach's "Completely Mad" and $10 more than Geissman's "Collectibly Mad". Hey, Mad isn't 25c anymore, either and they still say "Cheap"!

I may be biased since I wrote them, but I tried to inject humor in them and put as many pictures as I could manage, including many Mad folk.

It really is a must for any Mad fan as so many Mad people worked at Cracked including present Mad editor John Ficarra, as well as John Severin, Lou Silverstone, Don Martin, Al Jaffee, Jack Davis, Angelo Torres, Bill Elder, Paul Laikin, Arnoldo Franchioni, Tom Richmond, Charles Kadau, Brian Buniak, etc. and I also talk about Mad quite a bit and I do have an Alfred E. Neuman gallery.

Hope that helps...

Thanks, Mark. The books do look interesting; and, as intonated above, Cracked had an excellent innings, with or without the presence of MAD.

Good news! You can now order a Kindle edition of the first volume of the Cracked book for only $9.95. The second volume will be available soon.

Scott / Anyone!
Has anyone had a chance to have a look through these books yet? Does anyone know of any sites that might have pics of the insides of the books - I'm still intrigued, but in the UK these are fairly steep (& I ain't got a kindle yet!).

I've just bought vol 1 at 16.00 from Gosh! in London and am still reading. Some good stuff: shall comment properly when done.

Could anyone (Mark, for example 01.gif 01.gif ) define how the contents of vol 2 differ from vol 1 (other than possibly being chronologically later??

Thanks - Dave

Volume 2 is chronologically later, so it covers 1990-present. There is also the rest of the massive index and a chapter on what they did before and what they did after Cracked.

Of course, many more photos and a general issue index that lists what issues a particular artist or writer appeared in. For example, John Severin appeared in almost every issue, so he's listed as (inaccurate example shown):

John Severin - 1-350, 352-355, 356, 358

Hope that helps....

-Mark.

Thanks, Mark - great job on the book. I'll almost certainly be getting Vol II.

I've reviewed this on Amazon UK, here http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-reviews/1593936443/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1

Apologies in advance for the irritating use of initials (you'll see what I mean 01.gif )
